The word Exodus means departure. It is the name given by the Greek translators to the second book of the Bible, highlighting the pivotal moment when God led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. This was more than a physical movement from one place to another—it was a powerful story of liberation, redemption, and divine intervention. The Israelites departed from the land of oppression and darkness, stepping into a journey towards freedom and the promise of light.
This foundational story in Scripture points us to an even greater departure—a deeper, more cosmic exodus. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate exodus.
On Easter, we remember that Jesus went through His own exodus. He journeyed into death itself, not as a victim but as a victor. He departed from the grave—not only rising from death but conquering it. In doing so, Jesus opened the way for all of humanity to follow Him into a new kind of freedom—freedom from sin, shame, and the finality of death.
Easter proclaims that death is not the end. In Christ, we are invited into the ultimate exodus—a movement from spiritual bondage to eternal life, from despair to hope, from darkness to light.
Come join us on Sunday at 4 PM to celebrate Easter, as we do so with the joyful realization that Jesus’ resurrection is not just His departure from the grave—it is the promise of ours too.
We gather at 31 Atlantic Avenue
