I have some sad news to share with you.
This past week, our elders made the difficult decision to terminate our lease at 25 Liberty.
The reason is simple: we don’t expect to use our building for a number of months, and it didn’t seem to make sense to continue to lease the space, especially since we expect to lose it soon due to construction.
I have to be honest. I’m sad. I think it’s the right decision, but it’s hard to leave, and I’m disappointed we didn’t get to have one last meeting in this space to close this chapter.
God blessed us with this space almost five years ago, and it served us well. I don’t think we could have found a better space. When we first leased it, we were told we would only be allowed to stay for about six months, so we’ve already enjoyed it much longer than we expected.
What’s next? We’re continuing our search for a new space in Liberty Village. We’re committed to staying in this community. We’ll continue to meet online until we’re allowed to meet again in person, and if we don’t have a new space yet by that time, we’ll find a way to make it work.
During this difficult time, we have the chance to remind ourselves what church really is and support each other in prayer and by reaching out. Church is about more than building and livestreams. It’s hard to let go of the building, but we know that God works even in times of loss and difficulty.
Please join me in praying that God will use this disruption to keep us focused on what matters most, and to draw us closer to him.
