Today, Dwayne will be preaching on Mark 10:17-31 and what it means to encounter self-assured. The young man comes to Jesus assuming Jesus will commend him. The young ruler assumes Jesus is good and also declares that he is good (he says he has kept all of the commandments). Jesus offers him the opportunity to be the 13th disciple. He wants the young man to see that he isn’t good. That he needs salvation. So Jesus kindly points out his area of sin – his greed. Jesus doesn’t ask him to sell everything so the young man can be saved but so the young man can admit he isn’t good, and he needs a Saviour. Instead, he walks away sad. The good news is salvation belongs to God and He can save anyone. When He does, He not only grants you salvation but a new family, along with sufferings, that will be with you from now through eternity.
See you at 4 pm!
