I’ve been thinking a lot this week about what we were doing a year ago at this time. We were in the middle of packing and getting ready to move into Liberty Village. We were surrounded by boxes, and excited and a little scared about what lay ahead.
One year later, we are grateful for what God has done. We’ve been joined by two other couples who have moved into the community, as well as others who have joined us. We have started worship services as a new church, and we’ve seen God work in significant ways.
One of the highlights of this past year has been seeing how God has provided in significant ways just when we needed it. This summer, for the first time, we didn’t have enough to cover payroll. I wrote a check for my offering, but then realized that we didn’t have enough money in our personal account to cover that either. Both our church and personal accounts were tapped out. I had to leave to meet with a potential funder, but over lunch he told me that a downturn in his business meant he couldn’t support us at all this year. We were stuck.
On the way back, I checked our post office box, and found that a check had come in at just the right time to provide all that we needed.
I could tell you other stories about how faithful God has been in providing exactly what we need. This is just one of the many stories we have of how God has provided for us.
I have a request for you.
As we close the year, we face a financial need. Right now we are approximately $20,000 behind our expenses for the year. As a new church, we don’t have the reserve funds to help us through these bumps. Would you prayerfully consider helping in one of three ways?
The best way you can help us, longterm, is to sign up as a regular monthly donor, if you haven’t done so already. It’s easy: just download this form (PDF) and send it back to us by mail, fax, or email. No amount is too small.
Another way that you can help us is by sending a special Christmas gift to help us out as we end this year. You can do this online in minutes through Canada Helps. Important: Please designate the fund to Church Planting and mention Liberty Grace Church in the instruction box. (You can also send a special gift by mail, of course.)
Finally, you can help us by referring us to others who may be willing to partner with us as we plant this church. Please share this update with them, or put them in touch with me personally.
Thank you for considering this year-end request. Please continue to pray for us personally, and for Liberty Grace Church.
