On November 9, Typhoon Haiyan, possibly the strongest typhoon ever to make landfall, passed over the Philippines causing major damage and fatalities which were preliminarily expected to be the worst on record for the nation. 2,357 people have been confirmed dead in the disaster, but that figure is expected to rise, perhaps significantly, when information is collected from other areas of the disaster zone.
